The US constantly sends humanitarian aid to countries for natural disasters, wars, etc. A tsunami hits southeast Asia, who sends a ton of aid immediately? The US. Earthquakes rock a country, and the US is there. Where were any of these other countries when hurricane Katrina drowned the southern US? America has her problems, but if you think the US never helps other countries then you obviously aren’t doing your homework.
Actualy when the Katrina and the forestfires happend numerous countries offered menpower, expertiese and equipment but the U.S refused under the wise rule of Bush
The point that poledourus was trying to make, and you obviously missed, was that the USA helps every time another nation is in need. We are constantly at the forefront of humanitarian efforts with money AND resources.
We’ve also freed numerous oppressed people in Iraq, Yugoslavia, and other dictatatorial countries. You can give these efforts any name you wish, but those who are free from tyrrany are very thankful to the US.
Exactly what can Cuba offer that we can’t provide for vourselves? WOW!

I am a reasonable thinking Independent who processes all information before providing an opinion or decision. I guarantee that I represent a far greater percentage of the American population than you do.
Any American who minimizes America’s possitive contributions in the world while highlighting the negatives should move to an oppressive country to discover reality.

I call myself an Independent because I am a free THINKING voter who doesn’t identify with either Dems or Repubs because I think they’re all dishonest. I look for politicians who mirror my value system, which is in short demand these days. Therefore, I am not a “shell” for anybody, but a discerning voter in all circumstances.
Can you say that, or do you vote according to political ideology?
I don’t “support” any oppressive govts. However, sometimes it is necessary to do business with people you normally wouldn’t to free the world of evil. If that person turns in the same manner, you get rid of them too. Nobody should have to live under an oppressive govt. It is Jimmy Carter who is primarily responsible for the current instability in the Middle East. The US does not “install” dictators. They try to establish democracies that work for the people of various regions. Do some research!

I know that my government isn’t innocent of wrongdoing, but we have been on the side of good far more than we have supported evil. As for the American people, most of whom would disapprove of some classified activities, thyey demonstrate their kindness time after time following devastating moments of crisis. What say u?
Isn’t it funny that the same people who preach “tolerance” are the same people who disregard the opinions of others and resort to name-calling? Wiskawind and all the other ideological progressives are exactly what is wrong with America.
im definetly not saying that the Americans are “evil” what i’ve heard from a friend who visited relatives there, you guys are way more kind and positive than the folk here
but the actions of your government usualy doesnt reflect the will of it’s people
and what comes to the U.S media, it’s rather horrible really, i’ve seen debates about the use of torture wich included jack bauer(no joke)
and presidential debate where the answer for terrorism was “they hate our freedom” presidential candidate that gives such a childish argument.
and then the horrific human rights violations done by israel, your media just reports the Israel side of the story, wich is quite appaling. well enough ranting :p

Bush shared my social values, but his fiscal ‘responsibility’ was completely irresponsible. However, he was nowhere near the levels that Obama has taken our nation. We have one very scary president and Congress!
Well, it appears as though we’ve some resemblence of common ground.
What you need to know about our media is that they have become a progressive agenda driven machine that could care less about reporting the truth. Didn’t see the Jack Bauer reference, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
I still believe that our govt has done more good around the world than harm.

“Liberating” countries with military force is a poor excuse for a war, there are too much conflict of interest
like now it’s the Iraq, “we are liberating them” is so funny because, yes saddam might not be the most nicest guy on the planet but hes dictatorship is far from the worst
